Purpose Groups at The Net in Huntsville, AL

There are two types of Purpose Groups, Help Groups and Home Groups. Every Purpose Group must serve to either worship God or help people. Help groups such as the ones listed below are groups that gather for the purpose of helping other people. Home groups usually meet in homes and are designed to build relationships through fellowship, prayer and or Bible study. We started with Help Groups last Spring and will begin Home Groups this Spring. If you are interested in starting either type of Purpose Group, please fill out the simple application on the last page of this packet.

Our Current Purpose Groups:

Care Group
This team celebrates special occasions such as a birth, cares for a family during the loss of a loved one, and makes hospital visits when needed. We cook and deliver meals to anyone who maybe sick, recovering from surgery, or dealing with the emotional demands of a loss. At times, you may be notified on short notice as an unexpected need may occur. This has been a powerful and meaningful ministry in our church family.

Ladies Group
This group will begin Thursday, April 5th at 6:30pm at the church office located on the second floor of the Stone Center and will meet once a week for 6 weeks. Lynnae will lead ladies through the book “All Things New” by Author Kelly Minter. (Because our ladies live in different locations around the city, we’ve chosen to meet at the church office because it’s centrally located).

Harris Home Group
The Harris Home is a state funded home for boys, ages 12 - 18, who are placed in the state's system due to abuse or neglect. This group takes dinner to the Harris Home once a month to sit down and eat a family style dinner with all the boys. Arrival time is 5:30 p.m. for set up and we serve dinner at 6:00. After dinner activities in the gym include, basketball, pool tables, ping pong and time with kids. Our group meets twice a month. Once at the Harris Home and once for lunch after church to talk about upcoming plans. There are many ways to serve at the Harris Home. These boys need one on one tutoring, mentoring, and gift cards for clothes. This group is growing and hopefully will continue to expand in love and ministry to meet the needs of the Harris Home. Located at 1210 Church Street NW, Huntsville 35801

First Stop Group
First Stop is a powerful organization located in Huntsville, who passionately acts as an advocate for the homeless in many capacities. Part of the services First Stop offers are meals provided for the homeless every Monday through Friday, breakfast and lunch, held at First Stop's location.

The Net has an incredible group of people who go once a month to help provide a hot lunch. Amanda coordinates a menu and everyone takes on the responsibility for making food and bringing it to First Stop to serve. Arrival time is at 11:30 a.m. and lunch begins at noon.
